‘You don’t have to be great to start, but you must start to be great.’

Last two weeks have been pretty hectic and great too. Collecting funds for Edhi Foundation has been an uphill task but together we did it. Our circle collaborated with circle 4 to reach a greater audience. We have been able to collect Rs. 17,992 amount till now.

The experience of collecting funds was very new and different for us because it was our first time doing something like this. We were anxious when we came to know about this activity because we had no idea how we were going to do it in these circumstances (COVID-19) but in the end we managed it with the help of the team. Doing anything for a good cause always bring a sense of righteousness and satisfaction and that is what we all felt during this activity.

We all together decided to make a poster for fund raising in which different platforms for donating money was mentioned. We posted that poster on our social media and encourage all our family and friends to donate. We also prepared a specific message to post along with the poster.

The biggest challenge was that due to COVID-19, we were not able to ask for funds in person. We overcame this challenge by using social media to collect funds but it has its own problems. People would not donate thinking it was a scam or anything like that.

All the donations we were able to collect was from family and friends. We all asked some of our close friends to share the fund raising poster on their social media and they did but there was no response. We could not overcome this challenge of collecting funds from strangers as it was really hard to convince them over social media that it was not a scam.

We faced failure during these two weeks in many ways. Honestly, when we shared the fund raising poster on social media, we were positive that we are going to collect a lot but when we counted our donations after a week, we came to know that we have only collected Rs. 3500. We were kind of shocked. That time we realized failure is a part of journey and no matter how hard we try we might have to experience failure, though the feeling is not good but we have to accept it in order to move further. So, we decided to promote our poster more. We requested our friends to upload it on their accounts as well. Thanks to them, that we were able to collect a handsome amount.
